Daniel Lee holds the
national record for the 50 meters Freestyle
event with a time of 24.24 seconds.
Additionally, he is a South Asian Games double
silver medalist in the 50m and 100m Freestyle
and has represented Sri Lanka at the
Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, South Asian
Games and two World
Swimming Championships. The most recent of his
conquests was at the Victoria State Schools
Championships where Lee emerged the fastest
Freestyle swimmer.
A former student of Asian International School,
Colombo, Lee is now attached to the Monash
University Swimming Academy and has done his
share of training under Ross Price, the
Australian coach who has trained three Olympic
medalists. Daniel will show off his need for
speed in the Men’s 50m Freestyle at the 2008
Beijing Olympics.
“I will do my utmost to bring honour to Sri
Lanka at Beijing,” said Lee who added that his
next objective is to swim at the 2012 Olympic
Games in London. To this end, Lee is working
hard to achieve his ambition with nine swim
sessions, three gym sessions and physiotherapy
sessions in a week alongside his studies
